The 7th Nu Form Dura Cycle Annual Sardine Mountain Bike ClassicSunday 14 June 2009 “ Being recent converts to the religion of mountain biking, my girlfriend and I now pack our bikes whenever we go on holiday, hoping to get an opportunity to worship the gods of sweat, dust and dirt track. Hein Wilson, Centurion Approximately 700 riders, in 3 categories (Mens’ and Ladies’ 45km, Mens’ 25km and Ladies’ 25km) will set off on the course. Competitors are guaranteed a challenging track set in the Umtamvuna Nature Reserve and adjoining farmlands. A race against time through banana, macadamia nut and coffee plantations with a single track uphill to the top of the gorge with breathtaking views of the river, cliffs and coastline and then is back downhill into the valley to finish at the Old Pont Resort. A 10km fun run is also planned for the less experienced. 60% of the participants are visitors from outside of the region. |
